Niara T. Houston, Esq. joins District Legal Group as an Associate Attorney, bringing extensive experience in criminal defense, family law, and personal injury matters. She draws on her background in both courtroom and law firm settings and is guided by a steadfast commitment to professionalism, integrity, and client-centered advocacy.

Prior to joining District Legal Group, Ms. Houston served as the founder and managing attorney of The Houston Law Firm, PLLC, a Washington, D.C.–based practice where she managed complex criminal and personal injury cases from intake through resolution. She also served as a judicial law clerk at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, where she drafted judicial opinions and bench memoranda across hundreds of cases in the Domestic Violence and Probate Divisions.

Ms. Houston’s background further includes experience with the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, and the New York State Office of the Attorney General.

A native of Miami, Florida, Ms. Houston earned her Juris Doctor from the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law, where she served as Vice President of the Student Bar Association and participated in the Youth Justice and Whistleblower Protection Clinics. She also earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminology with minors in Psychology and Sociology from Florida State University.

Admitted to practice in State and Federal court in the District of Columbia, Ms. Houston remains dedicated to upholding the rights of individuals and families throughout the region through diligent preparation, strategic counsel, and skilled advocacy.
